Crystal Cable / Siltech Scala Speakers And Dream Cables

  Crystal Cable / Siltech came to HIGH END 2019 big with their line of impressive cables and two sets of speakers. Let's first explore the speakers. Siltech's Symphony is a prototype (~$400,000) very large floorstanding speaker. Multiple woofers, midranges and tweeters work together to produce full-frequency sound capable of filling virtually every large listing room with audiophile sound.

This was on static display as seen above, so never was able to hear the results, yet it looked very impressive!

On active display was Crystal Cable's Minissimo Diamond Scala ($20,000) stand-mounted speakers. After years of careful research and development, the company came up with an extraordinary solution to further optimize the radiation pattern. According to the company, a spatial form is placed on top of the existing Minissimo loudspeaker. This special 3D shape is precision machined from a solid die of aluminum. The staircase shape on top is modeled by their engineers using advanced Comsol physics. Its acoustic behavior is also modeled carefully to further improve the sound. And impressive sound it was, super fest, very transparent, and full range down to about 65Hz or so.

Crystal Cables has been very strong in the portable audio market with the recent releases. Dream Duet uses their special monocrystal silver technology to benefit the portable audio market. There are 18 hair-thin strands of ultra-high purity monocrystal silver per conductor and its color combination is red & black. Have been suing a set here with my fave Noble K10 and while they seemed to take many hundred of hours to break in, today they are exceedingly clean-sounding, with deep bass, lovely midrange, and highs that are never brittle or offensive. Smooth silver sound, if there is such a thing though have to admit my love for silver wire here.

Crystal Cable also offers jumper wires and an abundance of other accessories cables for music on-the-go. In fact their Dream Duet is now my reference cable for in-ear monitoring and so have earned my Best Of HIGH END 2019 Award. Bravo to Siltech / Crystal Cable, and look forward to hearing the new Symphony at an upcoming show.
