TAVES Consumer Electronics Show 2014 Show Report (Toronto Audio Video Entertainment Show)

Toronto Home of Audiophile store here in Canada had the incredible Pass Lass X600.8 monoblock amplifiers, Gershman Acoustics seductive-sounding Grande Avant Garde speakers, and Berkeley Audio Design Alpha DAC. Reference Series.

 

Update TV & Stereo is here at the TAVES 2014 show with ModWright amps, Well Tempered turntable and System Audio speakers. This room had the best 'disappearing speaker act' here at TAVES 2014. Best soundscape so far of the show, yet the frequency response and harmonics left a bit to be desired.

 

Kimber Kable in all their glory.

 

Naim and Neat Acoustics making impressively good sound. The bass was tight and far deeper that one would expect from such slim and small floorstanders.

 

Garrard 401 and tonearm. The Triplanar U12 is their new 12" arm and has the mechanical engineer in me studying the 'why' of this design. 

 

Kronos turntable looking ever-so-sensual and entrancing. Both style and substance all rolled into one pretty package.

 

Tenor Audio was in the Audio by Mark Jones room as was Tannoy, etc. Wonderful sound and i was mightily impressed, yet size is not everything. i prefer the 10"-ers personally due to their more even frequency response, especially in the lower midrange and upper bass region. Still, it is that Big Tannoy Sound we all know and love in its own special way. Sometimes colourations and imperfections can be beautiful too.
