Taiwan International Hi-End Audio Show 2009
Taiwan International Hi-End Audio Show 2009

Coverage By Wong Kok Chieat

Flagship loudspeakers from Vivid Audio, Giya G1, driven by Burmester power amplifier. Source and pre amplifier were from Esoteric.

EXQ-R1 loudspeakers from Kharma Exquisite series driven by Boulder 2050 monoblocks. Source was Boulder 1021 CD player and pre amplifier was Boulder 2010.

Acapella LaCampanella speakers driven by Angstrom Research amplifications. Sources were tw-acustic turntable and CD player from mel audio.

SEC CD player from mel audio of Italy.

Harlekin speakers from Acapella.

Tweaking products from creaktiv.

VOVOX cables from Switzerland.

Jazz MKII Reference turntable from Musical Life of Germany, next to CD1 CD player from Progressive Audio.

Montegiro Lusso flagship turntable, built upon alternate layers of aluminum and black acrylic.

Finally I got the chance of listening to the very much raved about ASR products. Shown here were the ASR Luna 8 Exclusive integrated amplifiers. In the middle was the Bladelius Gondul multi format digital source.

ASR Luna 8 Exclusive was known as ASR Emitter II in other parts of the world. I guess the sale in Taiwan was so good that the product got renamed to suit the local.

Marten Coltrane Black Pearl limited edition, limited to only 10 pairs to commemorate Marten's 10th year in the audio business. I was privileged to listen to a closely spec-ed upgraded version of Coltrane in Singapore.

Micromega rigs with Amphion loudspeaker system. I was so excited after speaking to Alain Chlous, the export manager in charge of Micromega, that the holding group is going to actively promote Micromega with a whole swing of new products coming our way!

Micromega CD players, pre, power and integrated amplifiers from 3 different ranges.

When home theatre frenzy first caught on during the Dolby Pro-Logic era, many add-on decoders flooded the market with 3 channels amplification to complement the existing 2 channels stereo. Micromega is once again adopting the proven strategy to introduce a similar three channels solution to complement the existing stereo, only this time with better Dolby Digital decoding.

Mr. Jacob standing behind his latest flagship speakers, the Saadhana, the first product from Rethm with bass augmentation design. The bass augmentation design was actually additional section built into the loudspeaker to reproduce low bass. The bass section comes complete with active amplification to drive the dual bass drivers in sealed isobaric configuration.
