From The Editor... Made In Croatia

  Besides for being the 19th in the raw, with a great number of exhibitors and a high-end sound, picture and showed products quality, just ended  Zagreb Audio Video Show in the Sheraton Zagreb Hotel has also been special for one thing - products manufactured in Croatia and Slovenia. We are very fond of this fact because it proves that knowledge, enthusiasm and quality are not just available far away from "our yard", but it can be found around here. Companies such as Deans-PA, D.O. Analogue, Gallus Audio Technology (SLO), HAD Audiolab, Sound News and Subing, showed some very interesting devices which can be compared with foreign manufacturers by their quality and sound, with a significantly  lower price tag. We plan to promote and encourage this sort of local producers' activity as You can see in this number, where we have reviewed two products from a Bjelovar company, HAD Audiolab.

The attractiveness and an admirable technological actuality of the fair was accomplished by leading television manufacturers (Panasonic, Philips and Samsung) showing the newest Ultra HD (4K) and OLED TV technology, which attracted the customers interest at the fair. I would like to add that the Zagreb AV Show 2014. is going to celebrate a 20^th anniversary of continuity and we expect a large number of exhibitors and visitors interested in the newest accomplishment in the world of consumer electronics.

This very issue you are currently holding in your hands is richer for 16 pages of reviews, music and film reviews. Here, I would like to point out the interview with  jazz legend Ernie Watts, conducted by our jazz editor Davor Hrvoj right after Watts’ performance in Zagreb at jazz.hr festival. Also, we bring an interview with Jan-Eric Persson, the owner of the music label Opus 3, a review of the brass scene of New Orleans, an article on the upcoming biblically themed film spectacles. You can read about our choice of attractive movie titles coming  to cinemas by the end of the year. Among the tests you can find: Toshiba UHD television, our new reference Oppo Blu-ray player, Yamaha high-end CD player, NAD integrated amplifier, explosive ATC speaker...
