Kyron Audio Kronos Open Baffle DSP Speaker System

Modern audiophiles love their tech and Australia's Kyron Audio delivers with their impressive open baffle Kronos active speakers ($112,000). This three-way open baffle speaker employs multiple stereo DACs and DSP to produce excellent sound. With two analog inputs plus three digital and USB audio interface, everything from your computer to turntable can play along. Color me quote impressed with the tech and the sound of the Kyron Audio Kronos speakers.

My ears were rejoicing to the top to bottom coherency with a smoothness generally reserved for only the very best reference loudspeaker designs. They say it has a frequency response from 32Hz to 40kHz by mating two 1" high-end ring radiator with patented symmetrical drive motor, a 7" neodymium dipole mid-woofer and a pair of 12" long throw, dual voice coil dipole woofers. Kyron Audio's Kronos is a very high-tech speaker as it includes linear phase crossovers and a 10-band parametric equalizer for room correction to ensure performance within virtually any room.

This open baffle design produced a wonderfully enjoyable soundscape with free-floating imaging. The customized, hand assembled woofer drivers that are mounted from the back of the motors brought dynamic energy to bass. Combined with the very high quality midrange driver and advanced ring radiator tweeters there was an ease as music flowed into the room. DEQX signal processing with linear-phase crossovers, time alignment, frequency response correction, phase correction and room correction is a big step forward for technology and it is amazing the choices audiophiles have in ways to achieve great sound. Kronos includes a preamplifier for your source components and it can be controlled wirelessly. The three digital inputs, plus UBS, work seamlessly with the digital system and you can connect a phonostage to one of the two analog inputs. Kroso speaker system includes six channels of low distortion power amplification capable of producing a total of more than 2500 watts!

Sound and style work in concert as this open baffle speaker system was "modeled for both aesthetics and strength and is in itself a representation of what is possible when innovation and performance are given high priority. With styling cues taken from contemporary architecture, the Kronos is a striking and thought provoking artistic piece that speaks strongly even when it is silent" says the company. Kyron Audio's Kronos won me over during T.H.E. Show Newport and if you have a chance i highly recommend giving them a listen. This is one of the very best sounding rooms during T.H.E. Show Newport 2016.
