Triangle HiFi BR04 Monitor With DVAS At HIGH END 2025 Assessment Review

Founded in 1980, Triangle HiFi's story began in the heart of Picardy, France, a region steeped in a tradition of precision manufacturing and a deep appreciation for fine acoustics. The company emerged from a passionate quest for a more authentic, natural, and immersive sound, with its roots lying in experimental speaker prototypes crafted in humble settings. With a heritage spanning over 40 years in the world of high-fidelity audio, the new Triangle HiFi BR04 two-way monitor ($626 per pair) expands on the ideas of the company's founders to combine high-fidelity performance with an accessible price point.

Building on the legacy of its predecessor (the BR03), this new model BR04 monitor was engineered with a particular focus on enhancing bass performance while maintaining natural clarity and accuracy through the mid and high frequencies. The modern design incorporates a reworked cabinet — expanded in volume compared to earlier models — which assists in optimizing internal airflow while also reducing undesirable acoustic turbulence. These improvements are paired with a redesigned front bass-reflex port, allowing the small monitor loudspeaker to be placed near walls or in other challenging positions without the usual drawbacks, making it a versatile addition to any space.

At its core, the BR04 Monitor is a two-way passive bookshelf speaker featuring a 25mm (1") silk dome tweeter. When coupled with a waveguide technology (a trademark of Triangle's EFS, which stnds for Efficient Flow System), it ensures even and precise dispersion of high frequencies. This design minimizes distortion, which is especially important at higher volumes. The 1" tweeter is mated with a 6" paper cone midrange / woofer driver made with a natural cellulose pulp membrane. This material is praised by many for its ability to reproduce vocals and mid-bass with a warm, natural tonality.

Triangle HiFi's BR04 frequency response spans a range from 44 Hz to 22 kHz, with driver crossover frequency being 3200Hz. The lower limit is well suited to deliver some deep, controlled mid-bass – while still leaving room for an additional subwoofer for stereo or immersive sound system integration if one desires an even fuller low-end for music / home cinema application.

With a sensitivity of 90dB/W/m with a nominal 8 Ohm impedance (4.6 Ohm minimum), the BR04 is designed to pair relatively efficiently with amplifiers in a recommended power range of about 25 to 130 Watts. An added benefit of the Triangle HiFi BR04 is its connectivity. Equipped with double binding posts, the loudspeaker supports both bi-wiring and bi-amplification. This feature can unlock a higher level of sonic precision for audiophiles who wish to separate signal pathways for the tweeter and woofer, potentially reducing unwanted signal interference and enhancing overall sound clarity. Such flexibility allows users to tailor their setup based on available amplifier choices and acoustic preferences.

In addition to its impressive technical credentials, the BR04 Monitor is crafted with style in mind. It comes in a selection of six different finishes, Black, Chestnut, Light Oak, Oak Green, Light Oak Blue and White, ensuring that it can blend seamlessly with various decors — from modern minimalist living spaces to vintage-inspired audio rooms. The compact yet thoughtfully designed cabinet not only contributes to its premium look but also makes it suitable for rooms ranging approximately from 10 to 40 square meters. The intelligent design choices, such as the front-firing bass reflex port, lend additional placement flexibility, allowing users to optimize their listening positions without a cumbersome setup.

Our Expert Assessment And Thoughts
Whether used for dedicated hi-fi music listening or integrated into a modern home theater system, the BR04 two-way monitor seeks to excel by offering a balanced, immersive experience. The warm, natural reproduction of its cellulose pulp woofer combined with the crisp, detailed highs from the silk dome tweeter makes it versatile enough for a wide range of genres and media. For those who enjoy the nuances of live recordings or the subtle dynamics of classical music, this monitor loudspeaker holds much promise.

Meanwhile, its controlled midbass and clear midrange ensure that dialogue in movies or the punch in rock music is delivered with good clarity and nice impact. For enthusiasts looking to fine-tune room acoustics or experiment with bi-wiring setups, the BR04 provides a platform that invites both exploration and enjoyment for music lovers.

The Triangle HiFi BR04 Monitor is not just a piece of audio equipment — it's a thoughtful convergence of engineering precision, versatile aesthetics, and user-friendly flexibility based on many years of design and engineering expertise. Its upgraded design improvements, particularly in bass performance and connectivity, set it apart in its class as a model that can adapt to various listening environments and user preferences.
