Gryphon Audio Designs Antileon Revelation
Amplifier Assessment Review
Gryphon Audio Designs is a renowned Danish manufacturer of ultra-high-end home audio stereo sound systems known for its uncompromising commitment to sonic perfection and luxurious design. You can see Gryphon Audio reviews expertly written by Enjoy the Music.com reviewers at this link. Founded by Flemming E. Rasmussen, the company grew out of a passion to recreate the live music experience within the home environment. Over the decades, Gryphon has built a well-respected and appreciated reputation for designing hi-fi audio equipment that combines state-of-the-art technology, meticulous craftsmanship, and timeless aesthetics. Here at HIGH END 2025 in Munich, Gryphon Audio Designs is unveiling the fifth-generation Antileon-series power amplifier, known as Antileon Revelation (€38.800 / $45,500). This launch not only marks the evolution of a legendary product line but also celebrates significant milestones: 30 years of the Antileon marque and 40 years of Gryphon Audio Designs. Wow!
For history buffs here at Enjoy the Music.com, the Antileon series began in 1991 with the DM-100, setting the DNA for all future Gryphon amplifiers with key features such as a Dual-Mono design, pure Class A circuit topology, high-current output, and the ability to drive virtually any loudspeaker. Over the years, the Antileon line has evolved through the DM-100, Antileon, Antileon Signature, and Antileon EVO. Each iteration refined the core principles of sonic precision and performance. Gryphon's new Antileon Revelation carries forward much of the intricate metalwork from the EVO while introducing a striking new element — a large Gryphon sculpture crowns the transformer cover, symbolizing both heritage and innovation. The rear panel now features Gryphon's latest bespoke binding posts, along with dual 20-amp AC connectors that enhance the pathway to the amplifier's Dual-Mono topology. Each chassis utilizes 40(!) high-current bipolar Toshiba output transistors per channel — the same components found in Gryphon's Flagship Apex amplifier.
An impressive 335,000 µF of power supply capacitance per channel (670,000 µF per chassis) ensures robust energy delivery. Two custom-made 1150VA toroidal transformers are fitted to each chassis, with a third, independent power supply dedicated to digital control circuitry. Available in both Stereo (165 Wpc) and Mono (180 Wpc) configurations, Revelation is engineered to produce truly thunderous, pitch-perfect bass with natural-sounding midrange and fully extended and airy highs. Like many Gryphon Audio Design amplification products, we expect it to be a seamless, grainless, palpable, three-dimensional midrange — attributes audiophiles expect from pure Class A output circuitry.
Here at HIGH END 2025, a pair of Antileon Revelation Monos will form the core of a comprehensive Gryphon system. This setup includes the Ethos CD / DAC, Commander Preamplifier, EOS 5 Speakers, and PowerZone 3.20 Power Optimizer — complemented by high-performance StandArt Racks and Vanta Cabling.
