Munich HIGH END Show Report 2015 Oh... my... gut... it's Rune!!! Rune Skov of Nordost is holding the company's new Odin 2 power cord and Vahalla 2 4K UHD ($16,999 and $2999 respectively). Nordost's Odin 2 range encompasses lessons learned after many years of extensive research and development. Their Odin 2 Cables integrates all of the advancements in cable technology and procedures that Nordost has achieved since the introduction of the first iteration of Odin nearly a decade ago. The new Odin 2 Range consists of analog, digital, and tonearm interconnects, as well as loudspeaker, bi-wire jumper and power cables. Each cable type uses Nordost’s patented Dual Mono-Filament process, Total Signal Control technology, and proprietary HOLO:PLUG connectors. Seen here is Rune holding the Odin 2 Power Cord that is constructed with seven silver-plated, close tolerance, 14 AWG 99.999999% oxygen free copper conductors. Nordost’s patented Dual Mono-Filament technology is said to "create a virtual air dielectric between the extruded FEP insulation and each individual conductor." Furthermore, Nordost's TSC technology is then carried throughout the cable and into its purpose-built, 100% shielded HOLO:PLUG. Do you have enough pieces of flair? With all due apologies to Rune for my Office Space movie flashbacks, yet the Nordost Purple Flair USB 2.0 and Heimdall 2 4K UHD ($199.99 and $599.99) continue the company’s efforts to achieve excellence in the field of electrical signal transfer. The new Purple Flare USB 2.0 data cable is especially useful for computer audio and combines OFC conductors with Nordost's precision FEP extrusion technology, greatly reducing dielectric properties in order to increase signal speeds and ensure both electrical and sonic integrity. This double-shielded cable is said to provide the "detailed and dynamic results that music servers and DACs are capable of." For you videophiles out there, Nordost's new 4K ultra high definition cables are a future-proof solution to AV performance. What makes their cable different is that many cables in the market today claim to offer high definition standards, yet they may fall short in reaching the vast bandwidth necessary (between 10.2 GHz and 18 GHz) to be categorized as authentic ultra-high definition cables. Nordost’s 4K UHD cables are the first within the high-end audio and video industry that allow customers to experience the high frame rates and Deep Color promised from their 4K compatible components. I personally use the company's exceptional Heimdall 2 with the Audeze LCD-3 Steampunk edition planar magnetic headphones. The results were far more detail, deeper yet tighter bass and a more transparent 'window' to the music. Love my some Nordost cables and need to remember to try more of their great designs soon.
