SVS Immersive Sound System @ FLAX 2023
A great surround sound system for those with a more modest budget.
Show Repot By Steven R. Rochlin

SVS Immersive Sound System @ FLAX 2023 A great surround sound system for those with a more modest budget.

SVS showcased what many know is the future of immersive music. Stereo will be with us forever, yet the future has opened up a plethora of newfound true lossless hi-resolution audio. Featuring a 5.2.2 Dolby Atmos surround sound system, this immersive object-based surround sound was equally at home with music as it is with movies. Their enveloping sound system featured:

Prime Pinnacle Tower Speakers
Ultra Center Speaker
Prime Bookshelf Speakers (Surrounds)
Prime Elevations (Heights)
SB-3000 Subwoofers
Total cost: $6000

Also on the aural menu were the SVS Prime Wireless Pro powered speakers ($899.99) and Prime Wireless Pro SoundBase ($699.99). The Prime Wireless Pro SoundBase is a reimagining of the stereo integrated amplifier for hi-res music streaming. With 150 Watts per channel, the built-in stereo amplifier is mated with a lossless 24-bit/192kHz DAC. Of course it also features Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Airplay 2, and Chromecast compatibility. In addition, there are inputs for HDMI, line-level unbalanced RCA, TosLink optical, 3.5mm AUX, and Ethernet inputs. Outputs to other sources / devices include line level and a headphone amplifier.

The SVS Prime Wireless Pro powered speakers ($899.99, standmounted) include a 200 Watt (50 Watts x four) amplifier, 24-bit/192KHz DAC, and digital crossover. It also has Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Airplay 2, Bluetooth, and Chromecast, plus HDMI, line level, TosLink optical, and 3.5mm AUX inputs. It can be controlled by a smartphone/desktop app, IR remote, voice commands, and front panel interface. Drivers are a 1” aluminum dome tweeter and 5.25" polypropylene cone mid-bass that together have a frequency response from 42Hz to 25kHz (+/-3dB).

As for sound, while this wasn't the most convincing immersive sound system my ears have ever heard, for $6000 it was very, very good. SVS is widely known for bang-for-the-buck sound gear and here at the Florida International Audio Expo 2023 they did not disappoint. Would have enjoyed more time hearing their SVS Prime Wireless Pro powered speakers, yet as it is during shows there are many rooms and limited time to hear it all. If you are more budget-minded and want high-quality sound for relatively reasonable costs, I highly recommend you give SVS products a good listen.
