Online music retailer Blue Coast Records offers a tiny lil' USO-DSD external DAC unit ($399, minus a $100 rebate until August 31, 2015). This is an ultra-compact Hi Sonus UFO unit that easily handles both FLAC up to 32-bit/192Khz and DSD up to 5.6MHz. There's a line output plus a dedicated headphone amplifier (maximum 600 Ohms). For volume control, there is an ALPS potentiometer and, visually, it looks stunning in blue color and an attractive LED light ring surrounding the knob.
Just a heads up folks, as this DAC will not work with mobile devices that do not allow power over USB (such as the iPhone 6 and the iPad Air 2). It will work fine with your home or portable computer system. As for just how small it is, measurements are 2.4" x 2.4" x 1.9" (WxDxH).
