The cool dude at Aprilsound (USA distributor for those killer Tango transformers) is
also giving away schematics to upgrade the slammatocious conrad-johnson MV-45. It
includes using, of course, the Tango transformers. Another part of the modification
is substituting the regular standard output tubes with the 45 type tube. Of course
you can also alter it to use the 2A3 tube as well (and the new single-plate 2A3 by KR
Enterprise looks killer folks)! There are also other groovy schematics on the
Aprilsound website as well so hurry over there and ch-ch-check it out baby!

Using the fat boy Russian 6C33CB tubes, two per monoblock, the Kora can
produce 80 watts of pulsating music munching power. This unit can be used with
either balanced (XLR) or single-ended (RCA) interconnects. Also used are one 6922
and two EL84 tubes per channel. Surrounding, but not touching, the 6C33 tubes are
these cool fin thingies that are claimed to help dissipate the heat generated by the
output tubes. Frequency response is claimed as 18Hz - 50kHz (-3db) while each
monoblock weighs 18 kgs. Signal to noise is an amazing 110db!

It's small, warm, cute n' cuddly... No, i'm not
referring to what Monica Lewenski said about Mr. Clinton. What we have here is the
EarMax OTL headphone amplifier (good call Nigel). Seen it at shows and it is really
cute lookin' too. As for that Clinton stuff, i swear there has never
been any sexual relations with between me and the EarMax... or Clinton for that matter

Here's a new twist to things. As reported on my PA Tube Show
Report, this is a new amplifier called the Siegfried by David Berning. It's an OTL
design with a new twist. Mainly, it uses a regulated resonant switching power
supply to achieve extremely low hum levels. Also, the heaters are supplied with RF
through a center-tapped transformer. There are actually two versions of this
unit. The 811-10 version ($5,750) and the 300B version ($6,950). Either way
they both have amazing specifications and are technical marvels.

Well, it's time for another slammatocious 300B unit.
Specifically, the Splendid Solution 300B-SE stereo power amplifier. The input stage
uses one 6SL7 per channel and, of course, one 300B per channel. Word on the streets
is that this unit was (?is?) available in 27 different colors! Hmmm... wonder if
they make it in Radioactive Yellow for freaks like me? Anywho, with it's lovely wood
side panels it's always refreshing to see something other then black, silver, or
chrome. Well, that and i love a good woody :-{)+ .

Here are some details of the 212 amplifier as
seen above made by none other then cool dude Ed Billeci. Both two-stage mono amps have 3
chassis each (each has an audio chassis, and two power supply chassis). Each audio tube
has its own dedicated low-impedance power supply, using LCLC filtering, with mercury vapor
rectifiers and oil capacitors. The low gain triode circuit utilizes the 212 transmitting
triode in single-ended configuration, and interstage transformer coupling. Currently,
Bartolucci transformers are used, but soon will be replaced by custom wound Japanese
amorphous "C-core" trannies with silver wire. Custom made silver wire is also
used in the rest of the amplifier. Modular chassis design, uses sub-chassis for both audio
or power chassis so that they may be modified by simply replacing any of the polished
brass subchassis. The amp is my envision of the ultimate "Bread-board", in
keeping with my habit of continual refinement (tweaking). Polished aluminum racks with
marble shelves keep 12 square feet of amplifier confined to a "reasonable"
amount of floorspace. Total weight each channel is around 350 lbs.

WAVAC is now offering a $50,000 monoblock amplifier which uses
the 833A transmitting tube for output. It also uses a triode-wired KT88 for the driver
stage. The highly praised (and soon to be in production again) Western Electric 437A
tube is used for the input stage. Running in Class A by using Nobu Shishido's design
talents this unit is capable of 100 wpc.! The chassis is milled out of a solid block of
aerospace-grade aluminum. This is a capacitor free, directly coupled design for the purest
of musical reproduction. If i was a rich man...

The Moth Audio s2A3 is a single-ended 2A3 based unit.
Virtually never seen on 'high-end' amplifiers today is included on this unit!
Namely, a headphone jack. There's also a volume knob on the right-hand side of the unit
which is always in the signal path. This unit use a GZ34 for rectification and two 6SL7
tubes. Virtually entirely hand-wired and uses the high quality Electroprint output
transformers.
