A lone piece of Jadis was driving the BASE loudspeakers to high volume levels. BASE uses Cabasse drivers in their C4 and C22 designs.
AKG K1000 headphone ($800 USD), that uses a normal driver called "ear speakers" which are angled away from the ears, is their top-of-the-range. Frequency response is 30Hz to
25kHz and this model weighs in at 270 grams.
CD Shop had the well-received GamuT line of produces (receiving a Golden Ear award by
The Absolute Sound). The chrome-fronted M250 monoblock amplifier features WBT connectors and both balanced (XLR) and normal (RCA) inputs. Two sets of loudspeaker binding posts allows for ease of bi-wiring.
Audiopax, whose review of their Mode 88 tube amplifier can be seen by clicking
here, were showing their prototype pre-amplifier that uses one 6BL7 tube per channel. Being a prototype, Edwardo Lima says that the tube type could change on the final production piece.
Few people around the world my realize hat Audiopax also manufacturers a loudspeaker as well. Their CX303 main loudspeaker and CW312 bass unit. The CX303 uses a Focal tweeter and a custom made 8" midrange/woofer while the CW312 uses a 10" paper cone. Overall frequency response of the loudspeaker system is from 30Hz to 22kHz with 92dB/W/m sensitivity.
As a teaser is the new Audiopax 4.5 watt model 7 integrated amplifier with remote control. It uses a single 12AX7 for diver and a single EL84 per channel. Three inputs and a tape loop are provided for.
Distributor Sound Stage had the ever popular and longstanding company Quad products. At the top is an SME turntable while Quad's QC-Twenty Four pre-amplifier was driving the CD player. Amplification was the 909 and naturally the loudspeakers were Quad's ESL.
MM Sound had the Snell home theater SR.5 dipolar surround, CR.5 center channel, and PS.10 subwoofer. The SR.5 has a frequency
response of 70Hz to 20kHz using two 89mm tweeters and a 135mm midrange/bass driver. The CR.5 has a 24mm black-anodized aluminum dome
tweeter and two 135mm midrange bass units while the PS.10 has a frequency response of 32Hz to 120Hz with a built in electronic crossover and 330 watts of built-in power. A 250mm dual spider design and die-cast aluminum chassis support the coated paper cone with butyl rubber surround.
The Panasonic room had many consumer products from portable CD players and digital cameras to large video monitors. One was featuring a video of the Panasonic-sponsored Toyota Formula 1 car.
Audio Research electronics were driving the B&W 802 floorstanding loudspeaker.
The 802 has two 8-inch bass drivers in a cabinet with their "Flowport"
(ported) design. A 25mm metal dome tweeter is mated with a 150mm woven Kevlar cone FST midrange
and two 200mm paper/Kevlar cone woofers. Frequency response is 39Hz to 20kHz (± 2dB)
with a sensitivity of 91dB/W/m.
Jamo's smaller loudspeakers are seen here in only a few of the many different colors that are offered.
