An out of this world watch for Star Wars fans.

Article By Steven R. Rochlin

Devon Works Star Wars Timepiece

Devon Works, a Los Angeles company that seeks to offer unique luxury creations that exemplify the American spirit, is taking pre-orders for their limited edition Star Wars themed watch ($28,500). Devon's co-branded watch – with patented system of interwoven Time Belts and hybrid electro-mechanical power – is said to embody the pioneering spirit of the original film. Some of the materials to create the Star Wars timepiece is sourced from a California aerospace company. A unique belt-driven time indication uses advanced engineering with the glass-reinforced nylon belts (used in gauges on the original 747 aircraft).

Other features of this watch include multiple high-tech optical recognition cells, micro-step motors, and 313 electrical contacts. According to Devon, "The circuit boards and control boards alone make the timepiece a kinetic engineering masterpiece – and the perfect platform for US Aerospace meets Star Wars imagination." Star War's timepiece outer casing is created in all black DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon Coating) on stainless steel. To help bring this themed watch its visual styling, the wings of a TIE Fighter spacecraft are part of the architecture of the case. These wings expand out from the rectangular case's sides. The main screws that connect the case and lugs are reinterpreted as aircraft turbine intakes whilst they are finished with pointed silver screws to emulate Darth Vader's helmet. Devon's Star Wars watch has a crown that is finished with the Galactic Empire logo.

As for the internal movement, the existing belt system utilizes four motor covers that are created in red and green to reflect the details on Darth Vader's center console. A special center hexagonal disk features TIE Fighter inscriptions and clearly outlines the time indications. Finally, the specially made leather strap is ribbed to replicate Darth Vader's gloves.
