Great Audiophile Gift Ideas For The
2018 Holiday Season
ELAC Debut 2.0 B6.2 Bookshelf Speakers
ELAC's original Debut B6 bookshelf speakers were a huge hit and here we're recommending the latest generation of this design. ELAC's Debut 2.0 B6.2 bookshelf speakers ($299 per pair) are designed and hand-tuned by none other than longtime designer Andrew Jones and they sound simply spectacular! This two-way bass reflex design produces sound better than some far larger speakers. With a frequency response from 44 Hz to 20kHz and a nominal impedance of 6 Ohms, they have been the talk of the town during recent audiophile shows. In fact they've already earned awards! Much cyberink, and even the print guys too, have proclaimed ELAC's Debut series designed by Andrew Jones to be winners. Their B6 2.0 use a custom-designed 6.5" midrange/woofer with Aramid-Fiber cone and silk dome tweeter with deep-spheroid custom waveguide. Aramid fiber is employed in the woofers of all ELAC Debut passive speaker systems. Aramid fiber offers a superior strength-to-weight ratio and improved damping characteristics over conventional paper or plastic drivers. This added strength means arriving at designs that achieve a broader bandwidth with smoother response. ELAC's silk dome tweeter is mounted within a carefully engineered deep-spheroid custom waveguide. The waveguide surrounding the new ELAC high-frequency driver improves directivity control and shields the dome tweeter from cabinet diffraction modes inherent in traditional box enclosures. Every ELAC enclosure is engineered for the long run with thick MDF outer walls and a luxurious textured vinyl finish. All ELAC speakers employ a dual flared vent to greatly reduce air turbulence which can cause unwanted noise. Gold plated five-way binding posts are utilized to allow for a wide variety of connection possibilities plus an intricate eight element crossover optimizes performance and blending between the drivers for superior accuracy. You'll need a bit of power to drive 'em, yet the rewards in great tunes is far worth it! Enjoy the Music.com's Creative Director Steven R. Rochlin has been extremely impressed with the new Elac Debut series of speakers designed by Andrew Jones and the Debut B6 aims to impress. In fact Steven interviewed the brilliant Andrew Jones, which and you can read here.
So how does this combo of 1-inch cloth dome with custom tweeter and 6.5-inch woven aramid-fiber cone midrange/woofer sound? Unfriggenbelieveable! Even if these babies were twice the price they'd still be bargains! And unlike those plastic cabinet cut-price speakers, you get a nice finish with the real wood cabinets, which weight 14.3 lb s so you know they're solidly built and very sturdy to provide many years of musical bliss. Steven says, "Just buy a pair and don't look back. At only $299 for a pair am sure virtually every music lover will find a way to use them. It could be within your main rig, perhaps as surround sound for movie lovers, or even within your garage stereo when turning wrenches on the car or handing that DIY / home fix-it project. Of course ELAC does offer more expensive floorstanders, yet as we're keeping the gift giving to very reasonable pricing the ELAC Debut B6 2.0 are under $300 and worth twice that for the build quality and sound they produce!
