From The Editor... Updates And AV Show in Zagreb

  The impressive information from the organizer about the last square meter of exhibition space capacity being sold at this year's IFA show in Berlin does not show the other side of the show, by being completely deprived of excitement with the absence of innovative solutions or products that could be worthy of special attention.

For example, there was a large number of new start-up companies offering "revolutionary" solutions, mostly related to mobile applications, and we have also seen and heard a few products that will come alive and stay longer on the market than up until the next similar show.

The global market is becoming overwhelmed with new content and technologies that should make people's lives much easier, and not be a purpose for themselves. However, the consumer industry seems to have come to a certain state of reconfiguration in which small manufacturers produce extremely many ideas that may live alone or will, if they prove to be, if seen as interesting solutions, a great fit for the bigger manufacturing companies to take under their own. The fabrication of manufacturers has been underway for some time; new start-up projects are just fresh blood for the unimaginative technological giants.

The companies offer new home entertainment products although consumers really need nothing more than what has already been on the market. Everything is already present except it can be smaller, portable, cheaper and, of course, wireless. The approach in which only what is good enough is acceptable, wins over innovative and excellent.

However, the ratio is not always present or welcome, especially when you have been involved in and around the world of consumer electronics for years. We get in line and we become a part of the irresistible current of addicts looking for new and different, hoping that we will be in the right place and at the right time to experience it.

We also feel like culprits for one of these moments by organizing and sponsoring the 23rd consumer electronics show "Zagreb AV Show 2017." Designed to reconcile old and new technologies, young and experienced consumers, or just as a magnet for all techies so they could enjoy their favorite songs or movies.

Whatever your reason for visiting the traditional Zagreb AV Show is, you are always welcome!

As a stimulant to this event, we hope that the copy of the magazine you’re just holding in your hands will be of good use too. Given the concept of our show or, perhaps more precisely, a show that respects the concept of the magazine, or both, while respecting global trends, we offer the readers / visitors optimal balance of old and new with a high share of thematic music / film content.

I hope you’ll have a pleasant time with us, either at your home or at our AV Show on the 28th and 29th of October 2017 in Sheraton Zagreb Hotel.

Update
At the end of October, the 23rd AV Show in Zagreb was held in my organization. Every year, it shows that the organization of the show is looking for ever greater involvement and patience with local AV distributors, at a time when their sales fall, to accept to exhibit at the show. Still, the show was very successful with 1,329 visitors, which is an excellent number for small markets such as Croatia and for a predominantly Hi-Fi exhibition.

This year, I'm very pleased with the fact that the guest was our colleague Alan Sircom who had an excellent lecture at the HI-FI workshop, together with Branko Božić (Audiofreaks, London) and our technical editor (Danko Šuvar, New York).
