Let's first
start out with my favorite car. Well, as a Formula 1 lover what can i say. The
home audio folks have their fancy listening room, though i doubt they can go from 0 to 60
mph in less then 6 seconds and look good while doing it :-{)+ .
Fuse is just like going to a killer car show. BWMs, Mercedes, Ferraris, Acuras,
Hondas, and many other vehicles both speed and sport were there.

What has amazed me over the many years of being
involved in mobile music reproduction is how creative the installations have become.
In the early 80's it was customized speaker boxes, yet today we find totally customized
vehicles including the main dashboard! Please check out the LCD panel display in the
center of the dashboard! Of course all the normal instrumentation has also been
changed to enhance the look and feel of the car too. |
In fact not only
are there killer tunes, though if you look closely at the car to the right you will see at
the topmost part of this photo a Sony Playstation to the left and a Panasonic DVD player
on the right. Hmmm... a DVD player in the car. brings a new meaning to the
phrase "drive in movie". As i see it, this might also spell the
availability to enjoy the new 24-bit/96kHz DAD discs in your car too! All that's
really needed to enjoy this new higher quality music software is a DVD player or DVD-Rom
and a supporting decoder. Hopefully when Clarion releases the new Auto PC (which has
been held back until September) it will have a DVD-Rom and therefore we can all enjoy not
only the usual fun the Auto PC is capable of, but also super high resolution software
also.

While strolling through the judging lanes was
this van that this phat unique, creative, and amusing installation. If you
carefully look at the larger photo from the small "thumbnail" to the left you'll
not only be amused, yet by looking carefully at the twin towers you'll notice that they
are actually amplifiers! Who ever said that mobile music reproduction is limited to
black or silver boxes on a stand like home music reproduction usually is. Not tryin'
to rag on home music reproduction, i love it, yet it seems the mobile folks are having
lottsa fun. |

Here's the Sony van filled with lottsa gear.
The craftsmanship of the power wiring as seen in the center is what helps to
separate the men from the boys (or women from the girls). Speaking of which, there
were quite a few female competitors at the show too. This van was soooo tasty
lookin' one just couldn't help but stop and take a closer look. |
