Chesky Records SingerSongwriters Contest

All members of the Enjoy the Music.com™ Mailing List were eligible to win some of the wonderfully performed and recorded Chesky Records CDs!

Chesky Records proudly presents an eclectic array of original compositions and unique interpretations from the archives, featuring your favorite Chesky singers and songwriters, both old and new. Whatever your musical tastes may be, SingerSongwriters delivers by highlighting the finest vocalists in the areas of pop, jazz, blues, folk and contemporary music.

Carla Lother's spiritually evocative, breathtaking vocal work can be heard on "Jaelish," while "The Lake" demonstrates her ability to create a beautiful musical portrait using her voice and piano accompaniment (from JD183).

Dave's True Story's "Dear Miss Lucy" (from JD189) and "Sex Without Bodies" (from JD164) epitomize the comical, yet witty side of lounge-style jazz.

Rebecca Pidgeon's folk-inspired "The Underground" (from JD141) and Celtic-flavored "MacDougall's Men" (from JD165) prove why she is considered one of the most gifted female vocalists on Chesky Records,

Sara K.'s "Ball n' Joint," showcases her unique blend of acoustic folk and blues in a live intimate setting. Taken from her critically acclaimed 1999 release, No Cover (JD185), this track portrays her emotional and energetic voice.

David Johansen explores the folk/blues anthology of Harry Smith with the traditional "Poor Boy Blues" and the down and dirty "Well I've Been to Memphis," (from JD196).

Much of this compilation, which also includes Livingston Taylor's acoustic ballad "Our Turn to Dance" (from JD162), Christy Baron's jazz interpretation of Peter Gabriel's "Mercy Street" (from JD201 ) and The Coryells' contemporary blues composition "Somebody's Got To Win, Somebody's Got To Lose," (from JD192) was recorded using Chesky's signature 96-kHz/24-bit recording technology.
