Consumer Electronics Show 2007 Pre-Show News Report
Sunny
Cable will have a conference at the 2007 CES concerning the "Most Accurate and Realistic Sound Demos." They will explain and demonstrate how the company's patent pending technology in cable and loudspeaker designs delivers what they feel is the most accurate signals with an unprecedented level of realism in home theater and stereo sound. This will include a debut of Sunny Cable's new line of loudspeakers from 8- to 18-inch with their proprietary horn designs. A 5.1 movie and music demo featuring Sunny Cable's H2W10 hornspeakers
(pictured) and a pair of 18" subwoofers will be in one room. Another room will showcase stereo music through their flagship H3W18 three-way, 18-inch woofer, 16-inch horn plus a supertweeter.
Simaudio Ltd.
will officially launch their Moon P5.3 Preamplifer (pictured) and Moon W5.3 power amplifier ($3500 and $4800 respectively). The Moon P5.3 preamplifier follows in the footsteps of the legendary and award-winning P-5 and represents a complete overhaul of earlier Classic series, It employs numerous technologies from our Evolution series and features a balanced differential stereo design, five line-level inputs, a user-configurable 'home-theater ready' input, an IR input for external control plus a 12V trigger for convenient operation. The Moon W5.3 balanced stereo power amplifier encompasses all of the circuitry improvements found in the company's Limited Edition series. Employing their
world-renowned "Advanced Renaissance" amplification circuit, the W5.3 is said to produce a warm, grain free sound common to some of the very best tube amplifiers. It produces 150 watts per channel into 8 Ohms (300 wpc into 4 Ohms and 500 wpc into 2 Ohms). Other features include an oversized power supply, no overall feedback, custom proprietary toroidal transformer with lower magnetic, electrical and thermal loss. It also has 12 Volt trigger for remote operations, Class A output to 5 watts, precision-matched Bipolar output devices, and a high damping factor for excellent
electrical control.
Rives Audio
and Talon Audio will debut their new reference products at CES
2007. Rives Audio will introduce the sub-PARC ($4500), a crossover, parametric, and digital switching amplifier (for bass section only), in a monoblock configuration. This system can used to actively bi-amplify a set of loudspeakers or can be used with subwoofers. It also has the ability to automatically change settings both crossover and parametric when going from home theater to 2 channel listening. Rives Audio purchased Talon Audio in August 2006 and will be showcasing the company's new reference Thunderhawk ($25,000) loudspeaker. The Thunderhawk uses the original Hawk reference monitor from Talon, yet adds a bass module beneath it. The module has the ability to work with the Hawk and function as a conventional loudspeaker
passively or actively.
Also in the Rives Audio room will be VAC's debut of their 300.1 phi Reference Amplifier configured for monoblock operation. Wadia will demonstrate their new Series 9 reference system. Shunyata will be introducing their new V-Ray technology Hydra power conditioners.
Peak Consult
will be featuring their recently announced Princess full-range floorstanding
loudspeaker. With an impedance curve and electrical phase character like an electrostatic speaker, sensitivity is 88dB/W/m with an impedance of 6 Ohms linear down to 60Hz. The multifaceted enclosure is handcrafted by Danish artisans in a 1-inch HDF sandwich material covered by 1-inch solid wood. Scan-Speak's 1-inch silk dome tweeter and
Audiotechnology's 5-inch midrange round out the driver compliment. Overall frequency response is from 39Hz to 30kHz, dimensions are 41 x 8.3 x 12.6 (HxWxD in inches) and weight is 93 lbs.

Tivoli
Audio's all-in-one Music System ($600) is a full-featured tabletop music system and includes a built-in slot-load CD player, AM/FM radio, built-in powered subwoofer and amplifier, plus digital clock with battery backup and dual
alarms. The single-slot CD player has shuffle and repeat functions, and is compatible with all popular music formats, including CD, MP3, WMA, CD-R, and CD-RW. A 32-character automatically adjustable lighted display shows CD/MP3 text or Radio Data System (RDS) information. High-fidelity stereo sound is via two long-throw 3-inch main drivers with SpacePhase equalization choices between mono, stereo and wide mode, while a built-in down-firing 5-inch magnetically-shielded powered subwoofer adds lower frequency support. Housed in multi-layered, high-gloss hand-lacquered dark walnut wood cabinet with classic beige faceplate, the Tivoli Audio Music System measures approximately 14 x 5.5 x 9.5 (WxHxD in inches) and weighs under 13 pounds.

The Esoteric
division of TEAC America, Inc. will introduce the industry's first master clock signal generator plus PCM digital audio up-converter, both contained within a single
component. The hybrid model G25U ($3000), was developed by the TEAC Esoteric Company of Japan. This unique offering, destined for Esoteric's USA dealer network, enhances a digital audio component system by generating a WORD SYNC output signal that is accurate to +/- 1 part per million (ppm). When that signal is input into a source device with a WORD SYNC or WORD CLOCK input, (such as a CD/DVD player) and a separate DAC, timing sync between the transport and DAC is greatly improved. This results in reduced jitter, better transparency, improved imaging, clearer channel separation and greater depth of field. With the
G25U's conversion circuitry, PCM audio signals from any digital device can be re-sampled up to 32 times allowing the user to select an output level up to 192kHz. This signal processing
is said to dramatically improve the sound quality of "Redbook" CDs and
of any other PCM audio stream input by coax digital or optical (TosLink) connections.
Both the master clock signal generator and the PCM up-converter can operate independently or together, based on compatibility with the selected source device.
