Bryston CIW In-Wall Coaxial Speaker System
Bryston CIW In-Wall Coaxial Speaker SystemBryston has announced their introduction of the CIW architectural loudspeaker designed ($290) as a versatile loudspeaker. It is ideally suited to accommodate the requirements of newer surround formats such as Dolby Atmos, which requires height speakers for proper configuration. The CIW is also ideal for normal home theater application where traditional floor-standing speakers may not fit the customer's décor.

The Bryston CIW is a round coaxial design based on a 6.5" aluminum woofer and a 1" titanium tweeter. The CIW takes advantage of the same tweeter design found in other Bryston loudspeakers, however the tweeter motor utilizes a neodymium magnet. The CIW tweeter also pivots, enabling the installer to direct the field of dispersion as needed for each application. The CIW’s woofer is derived from Bryston's A-Series loudspeakers.

Bryston's CIW is a fully enclosed acoustic suspension design featuring their unique anti-standing wave rear chamber. This design produces a controlled and balanced output, which can be very difficult to achieve within an architectural loudspeaker platform. Two additional form factors, a flange-less and a flush-mount version, of the CIW are currently in development.

"Since Bryston began offering high-performance loudspeakers, our dealers have been asking for an architectural speaker with matching timbre to complete home theater installations," explained Bryston's James Tanner. "Now our dealers can deliver a complete Bryston-branded system to their most décor-conscious customers."

Maximum amplifier power the CIW can handle is 175 Watts (minimum 10 Watts), it has a frequency response from 70 Hz to 22 kHz (-3dB) and presents an impedance of 8 Ohms. On-ceiling dimensions are 9.625 in diameter, with in-ceiling cut out dimensions are 8.25" x 4.56", and the unit weighs 12.7 lbs.
