CAV had some very impressive value-priced loudspeakers. The Fi EX (€1,595) is a five-speaker setup with a pair of wood wrapped floorstanders and small stand-mounted rears (plus center, not pictured). The wood cabinet had wonderfully complex curving to the sides and rear as the front is gloss black. Floorstanders have a D'Appolito design with 1-inch silk tweeter, a pair of 4-inch paper cone midrange drivers, and an 8-inch side-mounted woofer. The importer is BNS
from the Netherlands.
Hifidelio makes a music server for CD/MP/WMA discs with max of 160GB hard driver (€700 for entry unit). They use a linear power supply for sound quality, versus the usual switched type. Inputs include analog, USB2, and Ethernet plus wireless LAN. Digital output is via RCA coax or Toslink optical plus RCA stereo analog. A headphone jack in also provided. Volume adjustment is done via 20-bit DAC.
V.Y.G.E.R's Baltic-M turntable (€6,000 including SME 312 tonearm) has magnetically suspended feet with polished ball bearings to reduce forborne resonances while the main platter is 7
kgs. The motor is carefully controlled to insure speed stability.
ayron audio's Firestorm stereo tube amplifier (€7,990) uses the company's 52B-S made in the Czech Republic allows for 30 watt per channel output. A quad of 6SN7 for driver duties. The PCB is gold-plated while output is either 4 or 8 ohms.
Mainstream, if we dare call it that, full home sound distribution specialist SONUS offers music servers, wireless control, wired/wireless signal distribution... Many solutions for those audio-only systems.
