Underwood Hifi With Emerald Physics And Core Power

During T.H.E. Show Newport 2016 Underwood Hifi featured Emerald Physics and other brands via a complete tri-amplified system that they sell as a package. This is provided Internet Direct thru Underwood Hifi and includes the new Emerald EP2.8 speakers, which are fully tri-amplified with their DSP2.8 four-way electronic crossover. It comes with an Emerald EP200.2SE 200 watts per channel bass power amplifier that is also used as a preamplifier, two Emerald Physics EP100.2SE 100wpc stereo amps, plus an Exogal Comet Plus DAC and Core Power Technologies Equi=Core 1800 15-Ampere balanced power conditioner.

Emerald Physics' EP-2.8 open baffle controlled dispersion loudspeakers features two new custom Carbon Fiber 15" cast basket woofers with a 12" Carbon Fiber cast basket midrange driver, with our coaxially mounted Emerald Neo Polyester Diaphragm Compression Tweeter. The standard version includes our new Special Edition passive full range analog crossovers and a DSP2.4 electronic crossover/EQ. This is actively tri-amplified with no passive crossover. They can also be run full range with a single amplifier and no DSP or bi-amplified. These new Carbon Fiber breakthrough drivers deliver 3dB more efficiency along with a speed, transparency and lack of time smear. While the EP2.8 can be run with or without an Emerald Physics DSP, here it comes with the DSP2.4 and can be upgraded to their new DSP2.4X or the four-way DSP2.8. At T.H.E. Sow Newport is was shown in hand-painted Cocobolo finish, when shipping in July will only come in their new beautiful Natural Macassar Ebony. If purchased separately it is $9995 per pair with DSP2.4.

The speakers are driven by the new Emerald Physics EP200.2SE Special Edition 200 watt/ch hybrid digital amplifier/controller ($2995) with Emerald Physics designed analog power supply. It runs the bass and acts as the system preamplifier. Two EP100.2SE 100wpc amps run the midrange and tweeters in the tri-amplified system. The amps are shown in our beautiful new powder coated cosmetic and available in translucent black or silver. The 200.2SE can be used as a straight 200 watts per channel (400 watts @ 4 ohms) power amplifier with remote controlled volume control or as a three source (two unbalanced RCA and one balanced XLR) Integrated amp with remote volume control and outboard processor loop.

For DAC duties, Exogal's Comet Plus FPGA-based and upgradeable DSD/PCM DAC ($3500) worked its magic. Underwood Hifi is now the exclusive US sales agent for the superb Exogal products. The new Core Power Technologies EQUI=CORE 1800 ($1600) is a fully balanced 15 Ampere 1800 watt power conditioner. It features four Hubbell hospital grade duplex outlets. Normally this system would set you back $24,150, yet as a direct package deal it is only $16,999.
