Tru-Lift Tonearm Lifter
While tone controls and automatic turntables have gone the way of endangered species there is still a need for many to have the tonearm automatically lifted at the end of a record. This will become increasingly so as power recliners become more popular, since they do not close up as quickly as manual versions. And who wants their expensive cartridge shaving the label of an LP if you inadvertently fall asleep while listening? I marveled at the Tru-Lift Tonearm Lifter at the Montreal show earlier and I almost missed their table at the TAVES show this year. The large photo looked more like a spray atomizer for record cleaning solutions than the finely engineered product that it is.
New this year is a stainless steel version to supplement the original brass version. Choose the metal that looks best on your turntable. The Tru-Lift is marketed two ways. It comes in four different heights to accommodate different platter thicknesses and tonearm designs so you can buy the particular height that works for your table for $209 on up depending on size and finish. Or, if you contemplate upgrading your table to a thicker platter or a different model in the future, you can buy the kit that includes the shafts for all four heights from 1.25" to 2.75". It comes with factory set trip activation, but there is an adjustment screw to fine-tune its sensitivity. You can investigate further here. I give it two thumbs up!
