In the RangersAudio.com room had a pair of Quad loudspeakers,
Wolcott model The Presence P220-M monoblock tube amplifiers, Shaki Hallograph (see our review of these by
clicking
here) and a very interesting pre-amplifier (see next photo and description).
Dan Wright of ModWright SWL 9.0 four tube version (prototype) reference pre-amplifier is pure "Class A" with four 5687 triodes. Choke power supply FRED and Schottky rectifiers, regulated heater supply, and constant current source plate supply are just a taste of the action my friends. There is also a smaller, two tube version (see photo below).
One tonearm, two tonearm, three tonearm we go as Clearaudio's Master Solution AMGb turntable has the Rega 300,Graham 2.2, an the new 12-inch version of the Unify. All this is mounted on the Grand Prix audio carbon fiber equipment rack.
In the Two Bald Guys audio room (a Portland, Oregon, shop) are representatives of the Sun Audio and had their SV-2A3 single-ended triode stereo integrated amplifier with an Audio Note CD 3.1 zero-oversampling CD player. Loudspeakers is this system were the Audio Note AX-Two monitors that have a 0.75-inch soft dome tweeter mated with a 6-inch midrange/woofer.
Naturally at a DIY-type show would be Bruce Edgar and his horn loudspeakers. His Vintage Titan horn system features a JBL 2441 Alnico compression driver in a Tractrix horn for midrange and JBL 12-inch Alnico woofer. A special supertweeter handles frequencies over 10kHz. This 107dB/W/m system weights in at 150 lbs. The MDF wood unit between the Vintage Titans is a home constructor 35Hz horn-loaded subwoofer.
Offering loudspeakers in both kit and pre-assembled form is GR-Research is their Diluceo with a mid/tweet/mid design. An Arum Cantus ribbon tweeter in flanked top and bottom 5-inch Eton honeycomb Kevlar composite midrange/woofer. The rear ported cabinet features high quality gold-plated
binding posts.
K&K Audio's booth was selling Euro Audio tubes; Lundahl phono, line stage, and power supply kits, plus a great selection of transformers to serve the DIY hobbyist.
