T.H.E. Show Newport Beach 2012
The Home Entertainment Show
2012
Report By Steven R. Rochlin
MBL had two rooms at THE. Show Newport Beach 2012. ...and here is the big room. .. Cuz we guys generally think that bigger is better :)
Get ready to start drooling in 3... 2... 1...
Here is just a ‘simple’ McIntosh ‘rack system’. Yeah, and a
Bentley Continental GT is just your run-of-the-mill car (no footballer allowed here in the States of course). Hmmm… are we sensing a British theme for today’s coverage? I very well think so!
MIT brought a wide array of their cables, filter and more! Here is their Oracle MA-X speaker interface with multiple and A.A.R.M. A.A.R.M stands for Adjustable Articulation Response Module whose claim to fame is the world’s first fully-adjustable articulation audio interface.
Perhaps the most 3D sound at THE Show is the Aestetix Atlas amplifier, Romulus tubed DAC, Calypso line
stage... and Sonus Faber Amati Futura floorstanding speakers. Cardas cabling too.. and the system costs a cool $100k total yet you get not one but two, count them
two Clearaudio turntables for that price.
Hi Fi Company chair ($3495, my photo was too blurry) is so very sweet! Imagine coming home from a long day’s work and sitting back in this comfy recliner. Aaaaahhhhhhh….Oh, and you can see
Enjoy the Music.com’s review of it within our Review Magazine of course.
The British invasion is here during this Diamond Jubilee
celebration with the Spendor speakers and Chord gear. What I love about the show is that you can bring music and they'll play it! This room was another great place to sit back and jam out to your fave tunes. And seriously, can we please stop with playing Gwendolyn
DuPree and her Magic Singing Lute? Please! PLEASE!!! My sanity is about to crack if I am forced to hear another damn ‘audiophile’ tune by Gwendolyn
DuPree.
Great live music at T.H.E. Show Newport Beach 2012!
Motus is a driver manufacturer and here is their dual-concentric 5-inch driver ($220) that is 87dB/W/m sensitive at 6
Ohms.
In the Audience room was two world premieres,
which consisted of the the smaller Clairaudient 1+1 ($1800) and the larger
floorstander is their 16+16 MKII ($72,000). They were being driven by the Audience Wavepower monoblocks that produce 100 watt at 8
Ohm and are still in prototype form at the moment.
