RMAF 2013 Show Report (Rocky Mountain Audio
Fest)
Friday's Coverage + We Introduce You To Enjoy the Music.com's Dub Bot!
Where to
begin? Well, it all started while traveling to the RMAF 2013, as it seems my
new Dub Bot struck up the curiosity of the guys who tend to frisk everyone
before flying. Being a very solid device, even those guys could not hurt the
strong and solid Dub.
On Thursday night here @ the RMAF 2013 show
there was a great gathering with live music at the bar area of the hotel. As
am doing many things during this event, naturally put the Tascam
192kHz/24-bit field recorder with lab-grade matched pair Earthworks
microphones to good use and thus recoded the piano. Once i get home will be
posting the live music in full resolution for you and all of Enjoy the
Music.com's partnered magazines
to enjoy and use free of charge! Our Facebook
friends were privy to a small sampling video shot in 4K video of the
event too! Yes indeed, we are going to be doing 4K video, 192kHz/24-bit audio,
the live streaming Dub
Bot on uStream, and of course the usual photos and descriptions here.
Dub Bot make such a commotion that here is a
photo of Doug MacLeod proudly posing with the Dub Bot! And now let us get to
the live show coverage shall we?
Here are just two of the many people who
generously help everyone during the RMAF 2013. Let the crowds commence!
H
Wilson Audio's Alexia were being driven
by the Paragon doshi series tube monoblock amps. Even for a cold 'out
of the box' first day it was quite impressive!
Here we have two of the great guys from The
Absolute Sound making sure the Wilson Audio setup was spot on.
Here in still picture form is Jude of Head-Fi fame. Jude also appears in
today's Dub Bot
video on YouTube, which I am editing even as this is being typed. The original 22 minute video looks to be about 4GB after video processing via Adobe
Premiere Pro CS6. Hmmm, it in not quite that easy to stream online so am compressing it down a bit
to be 'only' 900MB. So what is the Dub Bot you ask? It is a telepresence remote control via Wi-Fi or 4G LTE unit by the geniuses @
Double Robotics. Think of it as a Segway-meets-Skype device yet with added remote control function, but a bit more involved than that
in the way i am implementing its use. I can be anywhere in the world, with the Dub Bot being anywhere
else in the world. It is easy to remote control the unit with virtually any Apple device or Chrome browser for Windows. The inventors were involved with Battlebots, so they know a thing or two about
robotics. Hopefully you enjoy today's
video on YouTube and have fixed the previous audio error and uploaded
a new version of the video.
