Top Audio & Video 2000
Welcome to our third consecutive
year in covering the Milan Italy show! Right on the heels of last week's CEDIA
coverage that was for custom home audio & video installers comes
almost the exact opposite. Glorious Italian made tube amplifiers and
handcrafted wood covered loudspeakers. Quite a difference from the all black
(or grey) square boxes and in-wall loudspeaker from last week. Amazingly high
consumer interest seems to be just one of the wonderful events i am
experiencing at the show. Of course there are the various live music events, including
a live band that walks through the hallways! Next week is our London show
coverage, though let us stick to the moment and enjoy all that Italy has to
offer. Great food, beautiful people, the Ferrari, glorious wines, immeasurably
superb churches... and oh yeah, high quality music reproduction devices. To
say the Milan show is one of my favorites is an understatement.
The passion of which people here discuss music is refreshing.
Little talking of polypropylene capacitors, problematic crossover topologies
or integrating complicated home networking devices to your computer-based home
wide... Well, you get the idea. Here they talk in terms of music. The glorious
of the sound of a Stradivarius. Capturing and replaying the power of a full
orchestra at triple forté (fff for those of you who can read music). Of course all of this is displayed is the
understated elegance that Italians have always been know for. For it is the
music, and the emotional involvement, that matters the most. My report can
only scratch the surface, though please read our 1998
and 1999 coverage to get a better feeling for many
things Italian. And now we here at Enjoy the Music.com humbly present to you
our Top Audio & Video 2000 show coverage. As always...
Enjoy the music,
Steven R. Rochlin
