Consumer Electronics Show 2007 Pre-Show News Report
La Audio Electronic
will be at the CES 2007 with their PRE-11 vacuum tube stereo preamplifier plus
P-845 and P-300 tubed monoblock
amplifiers. The PRE-11 (pictured) has a tube complement of four 6SL7, two 6SN7(6N8P), and two 5AR4 to produce a maximum output of 5 Volts, which is
capable of driving any amplifier to full output. Features include remote control, separate power supplies for each channel, 5 inputs including a moving coil cartridge, two stereo sets of outputs via RCA jacks, and a frequency response from 5Hz to 80kHz. LA Audio's P-845 monoblock tube amplifier operates in single-ended Class A and produces 40 watts using a pair of 6N8P for preamplification, a 300B for driving stage, and an 845 for output. Loudspeaker load/taps from the low-distortion output transformers include 4, 8, and 16 Ohms. Overall frequency response is from 15Hz to 35kHz and internal parts include handmade coupling paper capacitors while the power transformer, driver transformer and EI output transformer are specially manufactured for 845 by applying unique workmanship that has low magnetic leakage, wide frequency response and low impedance. Their P-300 monoblock amplifier follows the same lines of single-ended Class A, has a tube compliment of a 6J8P, 6N8P, two, 5AR4 plus a 300B and produces 12 watts. Output impedance is both 4 and 8 Ohm with an overall frequency response from 20Hz to 15kHz.
Danish digital audio specialist
Lyngdorf Audio has launched what it believes is the best performing A/D converter on the market -- The Millennium
ADC. It can be employed as a standalone product wherever a state-of-the-art A/D converter is needed,
however, when used with a Lyngdorf Millennium Mk III / IV amplifier and connected via the Millennium Link control system, the two will work as if they were one product. The Millennium ADC is engineered as a pure dual-mono design with two balanced 24-bit converters per channel and local regulated power supplies provided for each circuit. A special harmonic balancing compensation (where one of the channels is inverted
within the DSP to balance out 'broadband' noise) ensures that the specifications are of true high-end performance. Via the menu system, it is possible to precisely configure the phonostage to match a huge variety of MM and MC cartridges. What's more, in addition to the standard RIAA de-emphasis curve, users can also select from eight different de-emphasis compensation curves in order to achieve completely accurate and frequency-correct playback of older recordings. Overall frequency response is from 10Hz to 45kHz
(-3dB) with a THD+N ratio of an extremely low 0.0002% @ 114dB.
JPS Labs and Usher Audio
to exhibit together at the 2007 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas with JPS Labs' high-end, high-quality audio and video
cabling. JPS Labs will supply their finest Aluminata Series of cabling, including loudspeaker cables, interconnects, and AC power cabling. Usher Audio will provide their popular S-520 bookshelf on up through the large BE-20 loudspeakers.
Peak
Consult will show the company's best loudspeaker, the El Diablo, at this year's CES
2007. Many hours of measurement and critical listening have gone into making these four driver, three-way loudspeakers. It all begins with a multifaceted enclosure handcrafted with a 1.5-inch to 3.0-inch HDF specially glued sandwich material covered by 1-inch of solid wood. Drivers include the Scan-Speak 1-inch ring radiator, 5-inch Audiotechnology midrange, and a pair of 9-inch Audiotechnology woofers. Frequency response is from 20Hz to 45kHz, sensitivity is a high
94dB/W/m and impedance is 7 Ohms.
Earthquake
Sound is showing their SuperNova MiniMe MKV miniature high-power subwoofer and XJ-600R amplifier (899 and $1399 respectively) during the 2007
CES. Their SuperNova MiniMe MKV subwoofer is no larger than 1 cubic foot, weighs less than 17 pounds, yet produces 160 watts of continuous amplification and low
frequencies from it's 8-inch woofer and passive radiator. Adjustments include both low-level RCA and high-level inputs, crossover range from 50Hz to 160Hz and phase from 0 to 180 degrees. Acoustic output is rated at more than 108dB SPL (with room gain) from 25Hz to 90Hz. Earthquake Sound's monoblock XJ-600R amplifier (pictured) produces 300 watts has room correction abilities to account for phase and arrival time problems. Features of the XJ-600R also include remote control, XLR, RCA, high-level input
connections, switchable room equalization (centered at 20Hz, 30Hz and 40Hz), plus switchable infrasonic filtering and phase polarity.
