Audioengine W3 Wireless System And HD6 Powered Speakers
Audioengine is always playing fun party music and here at T.H.E. Show Newport 2016 it is no different. This time they were showcasing their Bluetooth W3 system ($149) to send to send 16-bit/48kHz audio from a turntable to their main speaker system. With a wireless range of up to 100 feet, the W3 supports up to three receivers. This way you can actually have a house party with one source feeding three separate audio systems! Audiophiles take note as this wireless system transmits bit-perfect PCM-stereo plus the USB controller in the Sender and the DAC in the Receiver are segregated by the wireless subsystem. Thus various anomalies which plague many wired DACs such as jitter, grounding, and induced cable noise may be greatly reduced. In addition, the W3 allows the user to physically isolate a potentially noisy computer from the sensitive audio components within your system.
Of course Audioengine has their raved about HD6 premium powered speaker system ($749 per pair). Their HD6 is a complete audio system with all the connections music lovers desire too. You can easily stream TIDAL, Spotify, Pandora, YouTube, or any music service or media player wirelessly from your smartphone, tablet or computer. There is a way to input your TV, Sonos Connect, a network music player, or any other device that has optical out. Vinyl LP enthusiasts can use their fave turntable via a set of preamplifier inputs. Audioengine HD6 speakers have built-in amplification, a 24-bit DAC, and Bluetooth with aptX. The cabinet is is hand-built with high-grade wood finishes while a solid aluminum remote control provides ease of use.
While i'm sure many longtime readers already know, i personally use a set of A2 within my offer and my wife's 15 year young daughter loves her set of A5 speakers with S8 subwoofer in her bedroom. Great stuff from Audioengine so be sure to check 'em out.
