MrSpeakers Ether Headphones

  Mr. speakers new model, the Ether ($1499.99), was at T.H.E. Show Newport 2015 and impressed me with their incredibly well-balanced sound. So what's their secret? Ether by MrSpeakers is the company's all-new open-backed headphone two years in the making. Weighing in at 13.1 ounces, they invented an industry-first headband made of NiTinol 'memory metal'. NiTinol is super-light yet very flexible to ensure a great fit with minimal head-vice feeling clamping force. MrSpeakers combined this with their new flat ear pad that reduces the size of the headphone plus ensures a great seal around your ear. Ether is built around MrSpeakers' single-ended planar driver to optimize performance.

After much listening the MrSpeakers Ether has great bass, clear and concise midrange, and silky highs with the Shiit Ragnarok solid-state amplifier. With the Woo Audio WA5 with 22 Ohm tap it sounded a touch cleaner and cleaner, yet the uppermost registers had just a slightly bit too much output for my preferences. Of course an output tube change could be just what the doctor ordered here to bring it all into perfection.
