No 5802 Integrated Amplifiers
Here at HIGH END 2019 was Mark Levinson once again bringing true reference quality gear with their No 5805 and No 5802 (€9000 and €8000 respectively). The No 5805 brings state-of-the-art features and efficiencies gleaned from decades of engineering. Fully discrete PurePath circuitry, Mark Levinson PrecisionLink II DAC, MainDrive headphone power, and potent dual monaural Class AB amplification are the broad strokes.
With the No 5805, there are two XLR balanced and one RCA stereo analog inputs. Digital inputs include USB 2.0, S/PDIF coax, and two TosLink optical. The internal DAC easily plays 32-bit/192kHz PCM and DSD 5.6 via ESS Sabre chipset. Bluetooth audio input including AptX-HD support plus there's MQA decoding on all digital inputs. Want more? How about a MM/MC phono stage for vinyl LP lovers, plus headphone jack too! Output power for both models is 125 Watt RMS per channel stereo at 8 Ohms.
For ease-of-use, control ports include Ethernet (RJ45), RS-232 (DB9), 12V trigger input/output and IR input (3.5mm jack). You can take advantage of Mark Levinson's app, or via Web page setup. In fact you can configure via import/export, plus software updates are extremely easy too. There's an included handheld IR remote control, And yes there is also control for third-party automation systems.
Mark Levinson's No 5802 echoes many of the same features as the No 5805. This all-digital integrated amplifier features the same Link II DAC expanded to six digital audio inputs: AES, two S/PDIF coaxial and two TosLink optical, and one asynchronous USB for playback of high resolution PCM (up to 32-bit/192kHz) and DSD up to DSD 5.6. The No 5802 also has a Bluetooth receiver equipped with AptX HD.
