Munich HIGH END Show Report 2016
It is no secret i love things Swiss. From watches to chocolates and music festivals, the Swiss are onto something. Mated with Wilson Audio speakers, the Nagra room at HIGH END 2016 sounded blissful! Sure we could go on about the legendary status as field recorders, tape machines, etc, yet they also make digital products and amplification.
Nagra's new INT integrated amplifier combines a stereo preamplifier with 100 watt power amplifier. This is a completely new design by Nagra's Swiss R&D department that sets new standards for the company. Naturally there is a gain section, upwards of 12dB. Then we have three unbalanced RCA and one set of balanced XLR inputs plus an RCA pre-output. Balance control is included and of course you get 100 WPC amp too. Use the front knobs or remote control, and it even has a trigger in and out for home automation too.
As for my longstanding love for mechanical timepieces, have been eliminating the Patek Philippes for Rolex. Simply need something durable that can easily be repaired in a timely manner. Am also finding that the beaches of Florida and SCUBA diving means one needs a watch that is appropriately made for true durability during harsh environments and not just a decorative trinket.
i'd love to get my hands on the Nagra Seven 24-bit/192kHz battery powered digital audio recorder (to replace my long-in-the-tooth TASCAM), which is the successor to the Nagra LB, ARES-C, ARES-BB+ and Nagra V recorders. It is a flexible device and can be adapted to a multitude of specific applications depending on the internal options installed. Based on an extremely high performance, simple to operate platform the addition internal I.S.D.N. or SMPTE/EBU time code boards adapt it to either the broadcast or film / TV markets. Optional Wi-Fi / 3G, internal editor and audio compression are also available; to further dedicate the device for particular applications. Here are some more pics of the Nagra room at HIGH END 2016. Lovely!
