Munich HIGH END Show Report 2016
Kharma was at HIGH END 2016 with their impressively large floorstanding Enigma Veyron EV-2 speaker and amplification. Charles van Oosterum of Kharma has created the Enigma Veyron line on his journey to realize the Holy Grail in the high-end audio. To create a new level of sound quality and truly offer superior technology that would push the limits of the current dynamic loudspeakers was not an easy task. This speaker system features cabinets constructed out of five-axis CNC-milled Bullet wood parts to not only create the absolute experience, but at the same time to also evoke a feeling of true beauty while listening.
Although the construction is massive it is still very elegant. The speakers are decoupled from the surrounding by a minimum contact surface created with Carborundum balls placed on Diamonds. The new spike disk suspension system is fully integrated into all Enigma Veyron loudspeakers. The combination of the hardness, shape and acoustical properties of the materials used, have realized the ultimate freedom of resonances.
The speakers were mated to the company's solid-state amplification that is capable of driving these large behemoths. Much attention has been paid to the power supply and parts quality to ensure the best possible signal amplification that Kharma can produce. My notes say that this room sounded very smooth with extremely high resolution. It was a joy listening to song after song.
