Florida Audio Expo 2020 Show
Report
Rick's Home Theater
Home theater representation at audio shows can be rare at times. This room by Rick's Home Theater featuring SVS, Parasound, and more was the only room at the 2020 Florida Audio Expo where you can sit down and relax while listening to a recorded live show on a Sony TV and SVS loudspeakers.
A pair of SVS Prime Pinnacle loudspeakers in gloss black ($899 each) were powered by the Parasound Halo HINT 6 Integrated Amplifier ($2995). Supporting the Prime Pinnacle loudspeakers was the SVS SB-3000 Subwoofer ($999). For digital sources there was the Emotiva ERC-3 CD ($499) player along with the Bluesound Vault 2i ($1299) storing up to 2 Terabytes of high-resolution audio. For analog sources there was the classic Pro-Ject "The-Classic" Turntable ($1099).
All the live concerts were stored on the Kaleidescape Strato Movie Player ($5495) with a 6 Terabyte storage capacity. In the age of the streaming services, why download a copy of a movie or live performance? Well, compression that is used by many streaming services in movies affects picture quality as well as sound quality. So, with quality being compromised by streaming, it seems best to stick with the downloads. When watching a movie, it is important for us audiophiles to have lossless multi-channel audio as well as uncompressed video. I'm sure many of you out there who care so much about the quality of audio will also care about the quality of video. Last but not least, the Sony XBR Z Series TV ($1799 to $2799) displaying quality video to go along with the quality sound.
I enjoyed my time in this room sitting back, watching and listening to a recorded live performance with lossless audio. Loved the SVS Prime Pinnacle loudspeakers SB-3000 subwoofer. Great performance for the price.
