Florida Audio Expo 2020 Show
Report
McIntosh, MartinLogan, And Integrity Sound
McIntosh, a brand that every audiophile is familiar with and may be the most well-known brand in high-end audio. Those classic glowing blue VU meters are something that is undeniably iconic. McIntosh was at the 2020 Florida Audio Expo along with MartinLogan and Integrity Sound, a local dealer located within the greater Tampa area.
McIntosh had their relatively new MA352 Integrated Amplifier ($6500) powering the MartinLogan Impression 11A hybrid electrostatic loudspeakers ($10,000/pr). MartinLogan also brought their BalancedForce 210 ($3500) subwoofer to support the ESL 11A. Two high-excursion 10-inch aluminum cones fit inside a compact package with well thought out, neatly integrated top mounted controls, so you don’t have to throw your back out reaching behind the subwoofer trying to dial it in.
Another well thought out feature on the MartinLogan BalancedForce subwoofer, is simultaneous LFE and 2-Channel stereo connections for seamless home theater and stereo integration with separate controls for each source. It also has separate SE and XLR inputs as well! Source components included the McIntosh MCT500 CD/SACD Transport
($5000), Pro-Ject Pre-Box S2 Digital ($400) for the digital side.
Over on the analog side there was the McIntosh MT5 Turntable ($6500) which went into the built-in phono stage on the MA352 Integrated. Power was sent out to all components through the McIntosh Power Controller ($2,500). The room was treated with Auralex acoustic panels ($2000).
