Florida Audio Expo 2020 Show
Report
Classic Audio Loudspeakers
Tucked in the corner far away from the rest of the rooms at Florida Audio Expo 2020 was the Classic Audio Loudspeakers' room. Being away from the block of rooms inside the Embassy Suites with absolutely no neighboring rooms, the Classic Audio Loudspeakers T-3.4 and Hartsfield horn loudspeakers were able to play at volumes that would otherwise interfere with neighboring rooms. Although I was impressed with how little sound bled into the rooms at FLAX 2020 when doors were shut, at these volumes there would most definitely be some sound traveling into nearby rooms.
With big horns comes big sound, both the Classic Audio Loudspeaker's T-3.4 ($54,950) and Hartsfield ($72,950) loudspeakers were powered by the chrome filled Atma-Sphere Novacron Mk3.3 tube power amplifiers ($22,000). Preamplification was carried out by the Atma-Sphere MP-1 Mark 3.3 you guessed it, preamplifier ($21,000). A Technics SP 10 Mk III turntable spun records with a Van den Hul Colibri Crimson Signature Stradivarius Reference moving coil cartridge ($15,000) mounted to a Tri-Planar Ultimate 12 Tonearm ($9800).
This seemed to be an analog only room as the only sources present were tape and records. NO DIGITAL ALLOWED! Overall great natural lifelike sound from this room.
Side Note: I loved the look of these old vintage RCA tube caddies sitting in the back of the room which were given to RCA company employees along with various other tool kits and tube caddies. Those who worked in authorized repair facilities that dealt with RCA products could also purchase RCA-branded items. Variations of these tube caddies were also carried by television repairman in the 1950s that had room for 134 common tubes as well as the small tools needed for home service calls. Would love to get my hands on one of these someday.
