CanJam Singapore 2022 Show Report
Symphonium Audio is another young brand from Singapore. Incepted in 2015, they made a name for themselves when their Helios in-ear punched above its price bracket and garnered some good reviews from the head-fi community. The sub 1K in-ear market is an extremely competitive segment, Symphonium Audio is gutsy enough to bring another product into this price range.
Working with Subtonic again, this new product, Triton, also features the "Filtered Linear Attenuation Tuning" (FLAT) technology. FLAT allows Triton to respond in a very linear impedance pattern, eliminating any possibility of impedance mismatch with your favorite head-fi amplifiers and devices.
The main concern of listening to music while exercising outdoors has to be safety, you need to be aware of your surroundings and traffic. Ikko Audio joins the bone conduction headphone market with its competitively priced Ikko Breezy. Featuring IPX6 to fend off sweat and rain while allowing you to listen to music for up to 6.5 hours through Bluetooth 5.3 protocol, the Ikko Breezy is no slouch in features.
Fret not when the earpads of your cherished headphones started to give way. KITO makes many replacement earpads, but more importantly, earpads that still adhere to the original sound characteristics of your prized headphones.
I finally get to meet Simon Chen of Simplicity Control, a true-blue music lover with deep technical knowledge. Not only does Simplicity Control carry some serious high-end gear, Simon also makes his product as well. I loved the 6C33CB tubes, I got to know them when I got a chance to listen to a friend's Balanced Audio Technology setup close to 20 years ago. Then years later, Almarro made a small integrated amp using the same tube. I was surprised to see this humongous tube here when the show is primarily for head-fi.
Here, you see the Q-tron Audio pre and power combo. Apparently Q-tron Audio is not a new company. Founded 1976 in Sweden, Q-tron Audio prided itself in making amplifiers using output transformer-less (OTL) design. Again, what have these hi-fi electronics anything to do here?
This is the answer, the power amp to headphone interface, designed by Simon himself. Only upon lifting the unit that I realize the product is hefty as it is milled from a solid block of aluminum. The whole rationale behind having a hefty box is to prevent the interface unit from being pulled off from where it is placed, causing injury or costly damages to the other equipment.
