Another excellent sounding room at AXPONA 2016 was filled with gear from Triangle Art, ModWright, Eggleston Works, Skogrand, and Massif Audio Design. Starting at the front-end there was the incredibly beautiful Triangle Art Signature turntable ($15,995) with Osiris 12" tonearm ($5800). An Apollo MC Cartridge ($8000) sang sweetly on this rig and you have to admire the mechanical engineering and art into these glorious turntables.
Amplification duties was handled by the outstanding, and astounding, ModWright PH 150 Reference tube phono stage ($7900), ModWright LS 36.5 DM Reference tube preamplifier with external dual mono tube supply ($9995), and ModWright's powerful KWA 150 SE SS monoblocks ($8995 each). Their Elyse DAC Reference tube DAC ($6900) filled digital duties as did a ModWright modded Oppo 105D universal optical disc player ($4400).
Eggleston Works Andra III speakers ($28,000) brought life to the room, with the entire system being connected by an assortment of Skogrand Beethoven cables. Massif Audio Design brought their rack. amp platforms and cable risers ($2800, $500, and $300 per set respectively).
My brief notes say the imaging was excellent and the music was immensely enjoyable. As it was the end of the day, and was already running far behind, i made a note to try a revisit. Alas, business meetings and cigar breaks really cut into listening sheshs.
