Rare Factory Tour
Of course how could any trip to Italy be complete without going to either Ferrari or Pininfarina? Well, the plans were set and a very rare tour of the Pininfarina facility was accomplished. The genius of Enzo Ferrari and the design talents of Pininfarina go back many decades. Upon walking into the facility you see three great Ferrari cars. The F50, a BB and the 250 short wheel base. In fact there were only five of these short wheel base 250s ever made (only three exist today i believe). This added shortness gave the 250 more responsiveness on the racing track.
As you can see above, with the stylings of Pininfarina there are really no "bad angles" to view the 250! This can be said of many cars visually designed by Pininfarina. True Pininfarina genius! Of course i was truly amazed, mesmerized, and dreaming of one day owning a beautiful car like the 250. So there i was at the factory dreaming of owning one of these works of art when the representative opened the door to the 250 and asked if i wanted to hop in. Well, umm, like, is the sky blue and the grass green? Does the sun rise in the east and set in the west? Of course i wanted to sit in it! If anyone has even seen one of my favorite movies, Ferris Buhler's Day Off, then you know how i felt when first sitting inside the rare 250. It was a mix of utmost joy with a good dose of being very careful. It must have been only a few seconds, yet it seemed like forever, for me to relax inside the 250. In life there are few deeply emotional joyous moments. You know, the ones that last you a lifetime and each time you recall the experience you cry in joy. Well, this was one of those lifetime moments for me. The gracious host asked if i'd like her to take a photo of me in the car...

Of course there were more lovely Ferrari cars in the exclusive Pininfarina museum. Many more! Alas, to put them all here would take up much bandwidth, yet here is just one more teaser for you my friends. The Dino! Every angle, every curve, every line is a beauty unto itself! A car so advanced that the look of it easily withstands the tests of time yesterday, today, and even 50 years from now. Again, not a "bad angle" to view this great car!
As much as i wish there were words to describe how much pleasure it was to visit the factory, words can never truly convey all the feelings in our life's experiences. Some things you just have to go out and experience for yourself! If you ever get the chance to visit the Pininfarina facility, the Ferrari Museum, or the Ferrari manufacturing facility it can easily be highly recommend. Of course there are many Ferrari clubs and organizations around the world too. Please join them in the joy of the legendary Enzo Ferrari with the styling genius of Pininfarina.
