Canada HiFi June / July 2016

Summer weather is here in full swing and I've already had a couple of chances to hit the streets of our beautiful city of Toronto to visit several record shops. Bouncing from one record shop to another is always more fun on a summer afternoon and it seems that there are more record shops in this city than ever. What inspired these record shop visits? I recently picked up a new turntable -- the Italian-made Gold Note Giglio. This turntable is such a dramatic upgrade over my Clearaudio Concept table that it has got me listening to all my records again and constantly hunting for new ones. The fact that this is perhaps the most gorgeous looking table on the market makes me love it even more. Look out for a review of this table in an upcoming issue. In the meantime, please check out our review of the more affordable Gold Note Valore 425 turntable in this very issue.

If you've been curious about Ultra High Definition (UHD) TVs but have been holding out until more content becomes available, now might be the right time to make a move. Do proper research though because choosing a UHD TV can be a little confusing. Luckily we've got a UHD feature inside this issue to help you navigate UHD waters.

Also in this issue you will find Douglas Brown's Part 3 of the History of Punk Music feature -- taking a look at local punk bands that exploded into the scene in the late 1970s. For a rock I punk music fan like myself, this feature provides some great insight about the roots of this genre.

Topping it all off is our second installment of the "Innovative Technology Products and Tech Toys" feature, keeping you up to date on the broader scope of consumer electronics products. I hope you enjoy this new, expanded content as much as we love putting it all together.

Be sure to also check out the Bryston Cubed Series amplifier and ArtVibes Audio reviews in these pages -- two very special audio products. Wishing you a happy summer!
