T.H.E. Show Newport Beach (The Home Entertainment Show) 2012 T.H.E. Show Newport Beach 2012

The Home Entertainment Show 2012
Report By Steven R. Rochlin

In Cali even the Roach Coaches are foo-fee and offer upscale food! That’s great because you can have those Garden Burgers whilst I enjoy more greasy burgers... and you’ll be rolling me down the hallways at shows.

In the Acoustic Zen and Tri room they had TRX-M845SE monoblocks and Crescendo floorstanders ($22,500 and $16000 respectively). My wonderful girlfriend Heather said to me the speakers look gorgeous.

Dedalus Audios sweet looking walnut with decorative maple stripe ($9950). Smooth yet detailed with very realistic midrange.

My Maserati does 185. I lost my license, now I don't drive...

Callaway Corvette... nice!

The ugliest Porsche ever made. Look guys, all you know how to do is a 911 for, what, around 50 years the same idea over and over and over again. Stick with what you know. By the way, if Porsche had any common sense, they'd relegate the 911 to the lower end per se for the far superior Cayman S. So why does Porsche cripple the Cayman S with a lackluster motor? Is it perhaps because Porsche dares not admit the 911 is a flawed core engineering design? C'mon Porsche, grow a pair and make a proper engine for the Cayman S and i'll seriously consider buying one for street/track use.

Perhaps the finest high-end luxury grand touring vehicle manufacturer today :)  Bentley.

And that wraps up my T.H.E. Show Newport 2012 report. Wait, you are probably waiting for me to name the Best Sound or the Best this or Best that, but quite frankly so many rooms had great sound that it is impossible to choose just a few. In fact, by percentages, the number of rooms with great sound was perhaps the highest of any show i have attended to date! Ok, so that means out of 107 or so shows I have attended over the past 15 years... Sorry all you high-end audio marketing companies, there is no single Best Of to splash within your ad copy from Yours Truly, as there was so many very impressive sounding rooms that picking just one, or two, or four rooms is flawed imho. Anyway, if you missed this event you really should make it here next year. Of course in the end what really matters is that you...

Enjoy the Music,

Steven R. Rochlin
