The Home Entertainment Show
2012
Report By Steven R. Rochlin
Kimber Kable made a really big splash
at T.H.E. Show Newport Beach 2012 with a large room showcasing their critically-acclaimed cables. From all copper to all silver
wire and in-between, Kimber Kable has you covered. In fact Kimber Kable are my main cables within the reference system at home.
Here at T.H.E. Show Newport Beach are various seminars such as
Listening to the Science of Audio. Of course there will be a
'reviewer roast' and other seminars to inform and educate audiophiles on how to better tweak, use, etc their system(s).
Headroom brought with them a stunning
array of setups! There were many listening ‘stations' setup for attendees to try different headphones, amplifiers, etc.
CEntrance DACmini is part of their Audiophile Desktop System. For the price it is hard to beat the sound quality and it truly is an easy drop-and-go desktop system.
Enjoy the Music.com's review of the DACmini shows how truly amazing
gear need not cost mega-money.
Synergistic Research was showcasing their new Tranquility Base
($995 on up depending configuration). Inspiration for this new product was due to the desire to elevate the performance of audio components and so this eventually led to several new patents (pending). Most impressive!
Merryl Jaye Studio had various paintings for sale.
Von Schweikert launched their new VR-44
($25,000 amplified and $22,000 passive) and this is the first true launch of
these speakers! The system had great dynamics and full sound, truly filling the listening room with ease.
Bravo Albert Von Schweikert!
Looking really interesting, yet not being used,
was the Yamamoto Sound Craft A-08S stereo Type 45 tube amp. WE717A and Sylvania
Type 45 tubes are used in this design.
Napa Acoustic, a great fave for very reasonable money and of course reviewed by
Enjoy the Music.com, had an entire new system with their Bow-3 monitor, unnamed matching subwoofer and MM-6 amplification ($999, $399 and $999 respectively).
If you are here at T.H.E. Show you really should check these guys out.
Thiel's 3.7 were being driven by the PrimaLuna Prologue tubed monoblocks and they were jamming out to Emerson, Lake and Palmer song
"Lucky Man"! They cranked it and yes it rocked!!! Awesome!
