Taiwan International Hi-End Audio Show 2009
Taiwan International Hi-End Audio Show 2009

Coverage By Wong Kok Chieat

The Avalon brethrens, Avalon Isis and the new Avalon Eidolon Vision loudspeakers.

The Soulution setup with the Hansen loudspeakers.

The complete dCS Scarlatti digital source system.

The Burmester setup, also featuring the Tannoy Definition DC 10T speakers.

The setup with Esoteric source and amplification with 2 pairs of Tannoy speakers and Avantgarde horn speakers.

Mr. Kiuchi of Combak flew in from Japan just to support the audio exhibition. Oh, Mr. Kiuchi sent his regards to all the Enjoy the Music.com readers.

The latest product from Harmonix line of tuning products, the core tuning ring for power cords and cables. Shown here on the silver plate was the CR-4107, designed for bigger power cords and speaker cables. Available from September.

Arriba, the local Taiwanese brand specialized in tube equipments featuring all their products, including their loudspeakers.

The Sitar integrated amplifier and Vadi CD player from Acoustic Plan of Germany.

Speakers from Penaudio of Finland. From left to right, the Charisma, below it was the Chara passive woofer, and the Rebel3 with two different finishing. The Chara passive woofer was specially designed for the Charisma and Rebel3 with the most seamless integration possible.

Lindemann digital source with the latest Linear Acoustic LAV-IV pre amplifier and Linear Acoustic 150.2 II power amplifiers. The colorful cube was Elac MicroSUB 2010 BT sub woofer, the innermost satellite speakers were the Elac 301. The bookshelf speakers were Elac 310 CE and the floorstanders were Elac FS 609 CE.

The Krell Evolution 400 monoblock power amplifiers driving a pair of unusual looking pair of speakers.

The speakers were actually F1 inspired and came from the David Wiener Collection, Art.Opera, with a small footprint and only 4 feet tall. Do not be fooled by the small size, there were 2 10" woofers to be found behind the Art.Opera loudspeakers.

Not my first time with the MBL flagship lineups, the 101 X-treme still sounded mesmerizing and composed.

Lucky me to have heard the latest Radialstrahler 111F hybrid loudspeakers. The 111F featured some of the latest innovations from MBL like the use of pressure-chamber technology in the woofer enclosures and the 2 force-balanced chassis in the lower mid range. These provided for virtually unlimited dynamic swing and enormous impact.

The flagship floorstanders from Triangle of France. The Magellan Grand Concert Sw2 stood 84.6 inches tall, almost touching the ceiling of the hotel room!

All the juice to drive the Magellan came from the Electrocompaniet Nemo AW600 monoblock amplifiers, giving 600 watts of class A power.

With this part 3 of the report, I concluded my report for the Taiwan TAA 2009 audio exhibition. I have to apologize as I was not able to cover each and every room in full details. I have to thank those whom I have met during the exhibition for their help and kind hospitality, making my visit to the exhibition so much more enjoyable.

I look forward to visit the exhibition again for years to come!
