  These groovy dudes have been on my top ten list for a long time musically. They are an acquired taste to say the least ;-) Of course like all great music, the recording quality is very poor by audiophile standards. If you can’t stand listening to poorly recorded music, skip this one, you’ll hate it. Proud to be is just like most punk in that every song is two minutes long and there’s a lot of them. Twenty tracks to be exact! DFL's style is basically free form thrash. The basic principle here is if you don’t like something, write a song about it. I’m pretty sure that the lyrics for half these songs were written about five minutes before they played them because you can hear their anger. Some others band's songs sound plain lifeless and without emotion. Of course when the Big Five record labels churn out another teen fave what can you expect? That is far from the case with DFL. What they were feeling in the studio is very apparent. Due to it’s emotional content, it can really change your mood. If I am angry about something, I will pop these guys on and crank it up. Give me twenty minutes of singing (read: screaming out of tune) along and I feel much better. ;-) A word of caution is necessary when playing the disc. Never, I say never play this disc in the car. If you do, you’ll have a mighty speeding ticket to pay ;-) Their music is not for everyone, but if you want to get a taste of true indie punk rock, and not that lame crap mainstream is trying to pass as indie, these guys are as good as it gets. Highly recommended.
