The Who
They say the light that burns the brightest lasts half as long. This could be true for Mobile Fidelity who's recent Ultradisc II Gain 2 system finally made me a believer that maybe CD was not too terribly bad after all. As history seems to be as cruel as it is just, time has closed the chapter in which Mobile Fidelity brought music lovers throughout the world wonderfully remastered music. We can only wish the best to their now departed and loyal employees. And now for the music. i will not make you wait for the end of this review to know just how i feel. Simply put, but this CD. This is the best version of this album (on CD) my ears have ever heard. It is so clean and clear as to be scary! If you love the "audiophile" MCA heavy vinyl version then this CD is a no brainer. The clarity and depth is so good that it makes me NOT long for playing the vinyl instead! It is that good (hope Fremer can forgive me). With songs like "Baba O'Riley", "Bargain", "The Song is Over", "Going Mobile", "Behind Blue Eyes", and many others (including an alternative version of "Behind Blue Eyes") you just can not miss enjoying the music within this CD. The totally awesome sound quality is a plus! Buy now or cry later. Soon all pressings of this CD will be gone.
