Ani Difranco
Ok, so it has been a while since i have reviewed music. Why is that you ask? Because all the other reviewers get to have fun while i toil away at this darn Dell laptop computer. There is this one CD i received that has knocked my socks off to such a degree as to make it a crime for me to not inform you about it. Here we have Ani Difranco's two CD set Revelling and Reckoning. While both discs have cool music virtually all audiophile will enjoy, only one of them has such sonics as to knocks your socks off... and then put 'em back on again! Revelling has way out funky relaxin' cool tunes. Multi-tracked, weird, far out and fun. Chick voice with avant-garde band/music. Free your mind and your ass will follow. The real jewel here, the one audiophiles will soon be talking about all over the world, the one recorded so well as to make your system shine... You know, the demo material of demo material when your friend with the audio system not as good as yours stops by for a listen. Yeah that CD. Well my friend, that CD will now be this CD. And which CD am i referring to? Why it is the Reckoning CD of course! Ok, so it is multi-tracked, but how about with such clarity and dynamics as to make even the guys at the Mapleshade label proud. How about such a wonderful female voice and guitar sound as to make you, well, um... Ok, i'll say it. You'll have an eargasm! Now before i get another one of these lame "Steve referring to girls as chicks is bad" letters, the name of her recording label is Righteous Babe Records. So if she can call herself a babe, then i can call her a chick. Which is worse, being called a babe or a chick? Who cares?!?! It is the music that matter stupid! On the Reckoning CD we have fun folk music, groovy sound and a recording quality that will make you rethink all those "audiophile" demo CDs you have (except for the ones on audiophile labels of course). Here is real music, "babe" voice and guitar, aiming for enjoyment by real people. You know, the normal types that don't understand us 'philes. When Spicoli from the movie Fast Times at Ridgemont High said all he needs are some "tasty waves and cool buds", he would now have to add the Ani Difranco Revelling/Reckoning CD to his choice menu for fun. It's a recording to live for, relax to, make love to, and show your friends that you always... Enjoy the Music.
PS: Before i forget, the CD will set ya back a measly 25 bucks, though order from the Righteous Babes Records website and you'll get their Space Sampler 2001 CD [PRO-202] for free. Three CDs for 25 clams. 'Nuff said.
