Frederik Doci Canterina

CD Label: Blue November Records

Frederik Doci has released a breathtaking collection of songs on his new release Canterina. This International artist offers a range from classical crossover to Latin pop and delivers songs in six different languages via his remarkable and elegant tenor/baritone voice.

This is romanticism set to music. Surely all the females will melt like butter on a hot summer day when they hear Doci sing in any language. Although I can see that there are elements of romance tied into this music, I can most certainly appreciate a talented voice when I hear it, and the fine musicianship that accompanies him throughout this generous offering of two CDs. This man has what it takes to be an international star. It certainly could happen with the proper backing.

It takes something with tremendous impact to get my attention if the vocals are in a different language other than English. I would have to say I was impressed with this music and the voice of Doci. He commands your attention with his voice, which is the most effective instrument on the entire recording. And this is purposeful of course, the idea is to feature this brilliant talent and use the music as a tool to propel and enhance what Doci is trying to accomplish in every song. The two discs have over 100 minutes of music so you get your money's worth if you decide to purchase this set.

The music is as variable as Doci's penchant for switching his language. You will hear classical, jazz, pop, world, and the merging of many all in one song. This is a very effective method for highlighting the singer and his all-encompassing talents. It works very well for everyone involved. When he starts to sing in English, it is a welcome change but you can still hear his European accent, which is what separates him from any other vocalist that is presenting this style of music. Even though I could not understand a word he was singing it was still very enjoyable. The feeling, emotion, and atmosphere conveyed by the singer are most convincing. Perhaps next time the English translation can be included in the CD booklet so listeners can feel the full force of every track.

There is something special going on with Frederik Doci, check it out for yourself; you may be hearing the next big multi-linguistic vocalist.
