Tesla
CD Number: Sanctuary Records
Tesla gets right Into The Now with a smokin' new album. I was impressed with how this recording got my interest and held it from start to finish. The cover is an indication of what you will get inside this CD. They are like a rocket ship taking off and the audience watching the lift off is you, the listener. Their last studio album was Bust A Nut (1994) then they cashed it all in for a while until they rehashed all of their songs on Replugged Live (2001), which obviously got the old spark back, and a few years later we have a comeback album worth having a good look at. This is rock, metal, classic rock, hair band music, whatever you want to call it, its all of that and its loud and hard with plenty of melody and all the hooks to keep ya comin' back for more. They even do their own Three Doors Down thing ("Kryptonite") with "Mighty Mouse," its all in good fun and it serves the purpose for whatever its worth, if you are into it. They are very smart how they kick things off with a rousing title track, so right out of the gate they have your attention and have you rockin' right along with them whether you walking, talking, sitting on your ass, "Miles Away," or "Caught In A Dream," it doesn't matter, this stuff works, and they don't let up. This music shakes walls, rumbles speakers and is just plain fun to hear. This is not badass metal folks, its just simple rock 'n' roll that has a good rhythm and melody yet it gets you all excited and makes the blood flow in those hardened arteries, which seals the deal for this cat. It was a good enough listen to check out three times before sitting down to write about it, and that tells you something about what kind of album this is, just get it and you will find out.
