Porterdavis These three guys from Austin, Texas, create acoustic roots rock that resonates with authenticity. They mix modern original tunes with catchy hooks with more traditional fare such as a cover of the Muddy Waters classic "I Can't Be Satisfied." Produced by the undefeatable GurfMorlix, this album sounds fantastic. Simon Wallace's harmonica work sounds like a miniature horn section. Enjoyment: Sound:
The Pines Benson Ramsey, Red House Records' producer Bo Ramsey's son, is one half of the brain trust behind The Pines. Along with David Huckfelt he conjures up a world of swampy roots music complete with images of heaven, angels, devils, booze, and lots of loose women. Fans of acoustic funk will find plenty to enjoy here. Their original tunes resonate down through the crucible of time. Enjoyment: Sound:
