Sony MDR-Z1R Headphones

Sony has a history of making high flying dynamic headphones, the MDR-R10 (only 2000 made) and the Qualia 010 chief among them. Now after a long absence, Sony has pulled out all the stops in creating this masterpiece of understatement. It looks like a closed headphone but it actually sits between closed and open designs. It rocks a more extended and visceral bass than almost any open headphone but achieves a transparency and comfort level that closed designs cannot match.

A massive 2.76" driver features a magnesium dome and liquid crystal polymer edge to offer a bandwidth up to 120 kHz. Sheepskin earpads that surround the ears ensure long term comfort. The Z1R is hand assembled in Japan and the package includes a long standard cable and a short balanced cable.
