September 2018 Reference 3A MM de Capo BE Monitor
One of the finest small speakers ever made according to Enjoy the Music.com's reviewer Phil Gold. Phil also feels the 3a is one of the most enduring components in all of high fidelity audio as this new version of the MM de Capo is a very capable and transparent transducer.
Key to its abilities is the direct connection of the bass/midrange driver to the amplifier, a trait that it shares with its extended family of loudspeakers under the Canadian Reference 3A label. Its small size, phase coherency and proximity of tweeter to main driver provides superb imaging that few larger speakers can challenge. The latest innovations are the beryllium dome tweeter, the Surreal Acoustic lens and the rear damper panel.
It doesn’t dig the deepest of course, but unless you’re into heavy metal or have a collection of classical organ recordings, this won’t be much of a factor, and you will certainly enjoy the pitch accuracy and speed of the low register output. $3290 is a modest price for this level of quality, and with its 92dB/W/m sensitivity you won’t need a powerful amp to drive it to realistic volume levels. A winner again after 30 years.
